Science Fiction Book Odyssey Author Night

SIMSBURY — On Thursday, May 9, at 7 p.m., four science fiction authors will speak at the Book Odyssey Sci-fi Night at the Storyteller’s Cottage, 750 Hopmeadow St. For a $5 cover charge, fans of science fiction can meet and discuss recent books with Elizabeth Chatworth, Gabi Coatsworth, Roman Godzich and Alison McBain. Signed copies of each author’s books will be available after the presentation and a light reception will follow the readings.

Chatsworth , author of The Brass Queen and Ten Minutes Past Teatime, is a native of Sheffield, England, who writes about rogues, rebels, and renegades across time and space. She is also a voice actor (SAG-AFTRA).

Coatsworth an award-winning British-born writer and blogger who has spent half her life living in the United States. Her short story, Misconception , is featured in When to Now, (2018) an anthology of time travel stories, and her short fiction, essays and poetry are included in the anthology, Tangerine Tango: Women Writers Share Slices of Life (2012), E-chook’s literary memoir app, and many literary journals. She also writes a blog for writers, The Write Connexion.

Godzich , author of the sci-fi thriller No Higher Ground, is also an online marketing expert, web designer, and world traveler. He often teaches workshops on how to plot your novel at the Darien Library.

McBain is the author of nearly a hundred short publications. Her debut fantasy novel, The Rose Queen, is a YA retelling of Beauty and the Beast. She was also the lead editor of When to Now: A Time Travel Anthology and was recently nominated for the prestigious Pushcart Prize, the Patricia McFarland Memorial Award, the quarterly award at Bewildering Stories, and received honorable mention for the Roswell Award.
