The Steampunk Brass Ring Academy and Cabaret 2016

I recently attended the Steampunk Brass Ring Academy and Cabaret in Bristol, Connecticut. This splendid event combined eight hours of steampunk inspired workshops and activities followed by an evening fashion show and cabaret.

The event is a more intimate affair than many of the larger Steampunk fairs. Set against the romantic backdrop of The New England Carousel Museum, the attendees learned how to waltz under candelabras and fairy lights. The setting enhances the magical feel of the day. Classes ran on a variety of subjects, from Fashion in a Gaslit World to Piracy in the Age of Steam.

The fashion show was spectacular, perhaps only matched by the inventiveness of the attendee’s own costumes. A variety of vendors purveyed delightful millinery and other items. The musical performances included Them Damn Hamiltons, Aurelio Voltaire, and The Eternal Frontier. What can one safely say about the burlesque show? The White Elephant Burlesque Society never fails to entertain!

Please enjoy these fabulous photos taken by Alex Syphers of The Courant. Alex did an outstanding job in capturing the attendee’s joie de vivre.

Hopefully, I will see you at the next event!
